Haverfordwest County host Colwyn Bay in the JD Cymru Premier for the first time tomorrow, as the Bluebirds look to build on last week’s encouraging 1-1 draw away at high-flying Newtown.
County dug in deep to earn a well-deserved point against the Robins, with an own goal from goalkeeper Andy Wycherley cancelling out Aaron Williams’ early strike.
The Seagulls, meanwhile, were in action as recently as Tuesday, when they went down 6-1 away at champions The New Saints. Sam Turner’s well-taken goal had drawn Colwyn Bay level after Jordan Williams’ opener, but goals from Brad Young, Ryan Brobbel, Danny Redmond and a brace from Adrian Cieślewicz gave the Saints a comfortable win.
The previous meeting between the sides came at the start of September. Matthew Hill’s goal just before the hour mark had given Steve Evans’ side the lead, but maiden league goals for Kai Whitmore and Martell Taylor-Crossdale saw the Bluebirds complete the comeback to earn their first away victory of the season.
Tony Pennock’s side currently find themselves eighth in the standings, and could move level on points with seventh place Penybont if results go their way tomorrow.
