Haverfordwest County will be looking to build on last weekend’s victory in Colwyn Bay when we welcome Newtown to the Ogi Bridge Meadow tomorrow.

Maiden Bluebirds goals for Kai Whitmore and Martell Taylor-Crossdale saw County come from 1-0 down at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena to record their first league victory of the season.

The Robins, meanwhile, also opened their account in the win column with a 2-1 success over Cardiff Metropolitan at Latham Park last Friday night. Goals from defender Ryan Sears and striker Aaron Williams saw them seize the initiative, before CJ Craven’s header just before the break halved the deficit. A goalless second half was enough to see the Powys side claim all three points.

The previous meeting between the sides came back in May in the European play-off final, on what would prove to be a memorable afternoon for Haverfordwest County as we won 4-3 on penalties after the game had finished 1-1 after 120 minutes. Corey Shephard’s winning spot-kick secured our ticket to Europe, which would see us go on to defeat KF Shkëndija of North Macedonia, also on penalties, before being edged out by B36 Tórshavn in the second qualifying round.

The Town currently find themselves eighth in the table, with the Robins one place further back. With the table very much tightly packed at this early stage, a victory for Tony Pennock’s men could see us climb to as high as third, should other results go our way.
