The defender, who stands at 1.79 metres (5ft 8in) has had an interesting and varied career to date, which has taken him to different leagues and different countries across Europe.

Born in Carshalton in Surrey, he showed promise at an early age, and this was rewarded when he joined the academy setup at West Ham United at under-13 level.

Borg, who is left-footed, would progress through the ranks at ‘The Academy of Football’, and by the time he had reached under-18 level, he was a regular member of the team.

Comfortable either at full-back or as a winger, the 25-year-old departed the Hammers in March 2016 to link up with Aston Villa.

Having been promoted to the first team squad by then-manager Steve Bruce, Borg was primarily involved in the under-23 setup during his spell with the club, which lasted two years.

He then linked up with National League outfit Braintree Town in December 2018, and was a regular starter in the second half of the season, as The Iron suffered relegation to the National League South.

Following this, a move abroad was on the horizon in the form of Arenas Club de Getxo. The Basque Country outfit, who competed in the then-Primera División RFEF (now Primera Federación), the third tier of Spanish football, finished 18th.

It was then a case of switching the warm weather for something completely different for Borg, as he made the move from Spain to Iceland to link up with Stjarnan. After a brief spell with the Garðabær side, the defender made the move to fellow Icelandic team Haukar FC.

There is historical significance linking Haverfordwest County and the Inkasso-deildin outfit, who are based in Hafnarfjörður, a town which we visited in July 2004 for their UEFA Cup first qualifying round match.
