Sean Pemberton captained the Bluebirds for the final time in the last game of the season where
Edwards had the first shot of the game as he controlled at the edge of the box, but curled the ball into the arms of Gajda. Cameron Keetch sent in a free kick from the right hand side which was headed narrowly wide by a Druids defender. From the resulting corner, Corey Shephard sent a half volley high over the bar.
Persistence from Cameron Keetch set Ben Fawcett racing down the left, who returned the ball to Keetch in the box, but the strike on his weaker foot was over the bar. Shortly after, Danny Williams found a way to cross from the right and Ben Fawcett sent his header inches wide of the goal. Cameron Keetch proved a danger from set pieces, his corner from the right was flicked towards goal at the front post by Danny Williams, but it was well-saved by Ben Edwards.
Another Keetch corner was this time met by Sean Pemberton who headed narrowly wide. Keetch was provider again as he squared a low cross for Danny Williams who fired over the bar from a few yards out. The Bluebirds pressure finally paid dividends as another Keetch corner was headed on at the front post by Pemberton and Elliot Scotcher finished expertly to get the ball over the line.
Keetch was causing more problems, he was felled by keeper Edwards as he raced into the box and a penalty was awarded. Danny Williams stepped up, but Edwards redeemed himself and saved the penalty. The Bluebirds continued to control the game until half time, where the score remained 1-0.
Keetch corners were proving fruitful again as the ball bounced around in the box before Fawcett’s shot was deflected into the gloves of Edwards. A set piece delivery from Elliot Scotcher caused more problems as it was flicked on at the front post by Pemberton, Danny Williams then headed over from the back post. Williams was involved again as he raced down the right and squared for Keetch who couldn’t fire home into an empty net. Williams and Keetch combined again, but the Druids defender did enough to stop Keetch from scoring.
The Bluebirds pressure finally resulted in another goal as Scott Tancock headed home from a Cameron Keetch corner. The Bluebirds had the ball in the net shortly after, Danny Williams tucked home a rebound after Keetch hit the post, but the linesman’s flag was raised for offside. Marcus Griffiths tapped home just before the 90th minute mark but that was also ruled to have been offside, so the score remained 2-0.
