County recorded their first home win of the season as Jack Wilson and Danny Williams scored the goals to secure back-to-back victories for the Bluebirds.
The Bluebirds were almost in front after 30 seconds as Scotcher lofted a ball into the Aber box, Danny Williams and Ben Fawcett harassed the defenders before it fell to Jack Wilson, but his volley from inside the box was fired just wide. Wilson then had the second chance of the game as he cut inside from the right and curled a right-footed effort just passed the post.
Jack Wilson was again involved as he controlled the ball with his chest on the edge of the area and volleyed just wide. Wilson then turned provider with a long throw that was met by Sean Pemberton, but saved by Connor Roberts.
The pressure paid on the 17th minute as Ben Fawcett flicked on a long ball which Jack Wilson raced onto, he secured control of the ball and finished under the on-rushing Connor Roberts. Aberystwyth almost equalised immediately as Owain Jones danced through the Bluebirds defence, but Sean Pemberton slid in at the last moment to deny him a shot at goal.
Aber did have the ball in the net on the 24th minute from a corner, but the referee blew for a foul on the Bluebirds goalkeeper and the goal was disallowed. Shortly following this, there was a lengthy stoppage in play due to floodlight failure but the game was not abandoned and continued.
Aber restarted the game with a great chance for Marc Williams, who brought the ball down in the box, fired passed Gajda but Kurtis Rees blocked on the line.
The Bluebirds weathered the storm and doubled the lead as Sean Pemberton flicked on a corner at the front post and Danny Williams headed in at the far post. The half time whistle followed shortly.
The Bluebirds started the second half excellently, within a minute Jack Wilson raced down the the right, squared the ball with a low cross and Ben Fawcett’s finish was agonisingly wide. Wilson was causing problems again shortly after, as his diving header from a corner bounced off the post and was cleared.
After a quiet spell in the game, Kurtis Rees played an inch perfect pass over the Aber defence to send Wilson away, but the pace striker couldn’t get the ball under control and fired straight at Connor Roberts.
Wojciech Gajda was called into action as a bouncing ball was headed goalwards by Steff Davies, which forced the Polish stopper into a smart save. The resulting corner was cleared, and volleyed back towards goal by Rimmer but Gajda saved well again.
Marcus Griffiths entered the fray and had an immediate impact, he held the ball well to feed Danny Wiliams down the right, who floated a deep cross but Scotcher headed just wide.
The Bluebirds then controlled a quiet last 10 minutes to secure a first win of the season.
County now face Cefn Druids at the Bridge Meadow on Saturday (5th Dec) for a 2.30pm kick off
