The Bluebirds got off to a great start as Josh Tibbetts was sent off after 5 minutes. Jack Wilson pressed the keeper, won the ball back and was brought down just outside the box. Caernarfon did not have a keeper on the bench and were forced to play an outfielder in goals for the remaining 85 minutes. Elliot Scotcher proceeded to hit the cross bar with the free kick.
Despite the red card, it remained a cagey affair with few chances either way. Caernarfon then took the lead as Darren Thomas whipped in a free kick from the right and Edwards headed home. The goal seemed to motivate the Bluebirds and the lead only lasted 5 minutes.
Ben Fawcett was played through on the right and played an inch perfect pass to strike partner Jack Wilson, who tapped home. The Bluebirds began to take control of the game, and a few minutes later, Wilson fired over after driving in from the right.
10 minutes before half time, Jack Wilson repaid the favour as he cross for Ben Fawcett to power home from 6 yards. The Bluebirds then enjoyed the majority of the ball in a game which became a feisty affair before half time.
The second half started well for the Bluebirds with two chances for Jack Wilson. First, Trystan Jones played a ball over the top for Wilson to chase but he volleyed well wide. Then it was Daniel Summerfield’s turn to play it over the top with Wilson chasing again, but this time his strike was well-matched.
Ben Fawcett then had the ball in the net but was adjudged to have handled it and so the goal was disallowed. However, 3 minutes later it was 3 for the Bluebirds as Fawcett closed down the Caernarfon goalkeeper and his clearance fell to Jack Wilson who tapped him into an empty net.
Marcus Griffiths contributed well after being brought on as a sub, he floated a cross for Mark Jones who’s header bounced into the ground before it was tipped over the bar. Griffiths then got the goal his work deserved. Trystan Jones struck the ball which was saved up in the air, and Marcus Griffiths leaped to nod over the keeper to make it 4-1.
Griffiths then had a chance to make it 5 just seconds after the restart, but he fired wide whilst one-on-one with the keeper.
The final whistle went and the Bluebirds took all 3 points home!
