Rhys linked up with the Bluebirds in the summer of 2022 after leaving Barry Town United. A former Wales age-grade international, the left wing-back came through the academy ranks at Cardiff City before joining the Linnets in 2019.
Rhys made his Haverfordwest County debut in the 4-2 victory over Barry Town United in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup in August 2022, and netted a goal against his former side.
Abu was named in the JD Cymru Premier Team of the Season for 2023-24 after a very impressive campaign, which saw him play 28 times and score six goals.
Rhys has been involved in two European campaigns with Haverfordwest County, featuring in the games with KF Shkëndija and B36 Tórshavn in July 2023, while also playing in the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round tie against Floriana in July 2025.
