Haverfordwest County host Caernarfon Town at the Ogi Bridge Meadow this Saturday (November 20), as the JD Cymru Premier resumes after last week’s international break.
Prior to the break, which gave the Bluebirds a chance to recover and reflect after a busy period, Wayne Jones’ men had drawn 1-1 with Barry Town United in the live Sgorio game on November 9, with Kayne McLaggon cancelling out Kyle Patten’s opening goal.
Caernarfon have started their season in similar fashion to County, sitting two places and two points above the Bluebirds in seventh.
The Cofis were edged out 1-0 by Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Oval in their previous game, with Neal Eardley’s wonder goal giving his team all three points.
The sides met all the way back on MD1, with late goals from Danny Gosset and Cai Jones giving Huw Griffiths’ side the victory in a hard-fought season opener.
The Bluebirds performed well in the two encounters between the teams last season, drawing 1-1 at the Ogi Bridge Meadow in October 2020, before running out 4-1 winners at the Oval a month later, with Ben Fawcett and Marcus Griffiths adding to Jack Wilson’s brace in a comfortable win.
Depending on results, the Bluebirds could finish the weekend anywhere between sixth and 11th, as the competition begins to heat up in a congested lower half of the table.
Realistically, Haverfordwest County need a victory if they are to move up in the standings. Such a result could see them rise to as high as sixth, joint with Bala Town, should they lose at home to Flint Town United on Friday evening.
