The JD Cymru Premier’s bottom two sides face off at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Saturday, as Haverfordwest County host basement side Cefn Druids.
The Bluebirds come into the game on the back of consecutive defeats to Penybont and Bala Town, with the latter seeing them exit the JD Welsh Cup at the fourth round stage last weekend. Prior to this, Wayne Jones’ side had gone five games unbeaten in all competitions.
The Ancients, meanwhile, have endured a difficult start to the season, and are yet to record a victory in the league, losing eight and drawing one of their opening nine games.
In their last outing, the north Walians narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Aberystwyth Town, a result which saw the Black and Greens leapfrog County in the league standings.
On an important day for both sides, the fixture will see the Bluebirds host a ‘Day of Action’ in support of Show Racism The Red Card, with players wearing anti-racism bibs prior to kick-off and uniting together to stand against racism.
The Druids won two of the four meetings between the sides in the 2020-21 campaign, with the Bluebirds’ solitary victory coming on the final day of the season, as an own goal from Joe Faux and Scott Tancock’s header saw the retiring Sean Pemberton off in perfect fashion.
A victory for Jones’ side could see them move up to as high as seventh, depending on results elsewhere. A draw could be enough to see them move out of the drop zone, while a victory for the Ancients would see them close the gap on County to four points.
