Haverfordwest County make the trip to Flintshire on Saturday (September 25) to take on Airbus UK Broughton in the third round of the JD Welsh Cup.
The Bluebirds were comfortable winners in the previous round, netting six goals at the Ogi Bridge Meadow to ease past Mid Wales Football League East outfit Brecon Corries.
Wayne Jones’ side come into the match with confidence on the back of last weekend’s 2-0 win over Flint Town United, and the dominant display against Undy Athletic in the 5-0 Nathaniel MG Cup victory on Tuesday evening.
The Wingmakers will provide a stern test for the Bluebirds, and have made an impressive start to the season, winning eight of their first nine matches in the Cymru North. They currently sit top of the standings, one point clear of Guilsfield and Llandudno.
Steve O’Shaughnessy’s men edged past fellow second tier side Llandudno in the second round, with Beau Cornish and Jake Eyre finding the net in a creditable 2-1 win against the Seasiders.
This weekend’s game at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium will be the first meeting between the two sides in nearly six years. On that occasion, it was the Wingmakers who recorded a 1-0 victory at the Ogi Bridge Meadow thanks to a Tony Gray strike.
In fact, the Flintshire side have won the last seven encounters between the sides, with the Bluebirds’ last success coming back in September 2010.
