Two goals from an excellent Ben Fawcett saw the Bluebirds bounce back and get all 3 points at home to Barry.

The Bluebirds were forced into an early substitution as Jack Wilson was injured. Ben Fawcett entered the fray and was straight into the action as he raced down the left, cut inside, but fired his shot just wide of the post. Barry had their first shot on goal shortly after as the Bluebirds lost possession in their own half and the ball was fed to McLaggon, but his strike was straight into Gajda’s grip.

The Bluebirds were then given a penalty as Kieran Lewis was tripped in the box. Elliot Scotcher stepped up, but his penalty hit the cross bar. The Bluebirds continued to attack as Summerfield was sent down the right, he kept the ball in play for Fawcett to chase, and he then squared for Kieran Lewis who fired goalwards and the shot was cleared off the line.

It was then Barry who went close as Hutson crossed from the right, but the Barry header was just over the bar. Ben Fawcett continued the pressure and won a free kick in a good position. Scotcher whipped the free-kick in which was flicked on at the near post by Kieran Lewis but it was just wide.

Following a relative quiet spell, David Cotterill fired a free kick from 30 yards into the gloves of Gajda, and McLaggon saw a bicycle kick fly wide. Despite a sustained period of Barry possession just before the half, the game was scoreless as the referee blew his whistle for half time.

On the 54th minutes, the Bluebirds took the lead. Danny Williams came on as a sub, and as the ball was played to his feet, he flicked through with his first touch of the game for Ben Fawcett to chase, the number 9 then cooly slotted under Lewis for the goal.

Following the goal, Barry almost hit bat. A counter-attack so McLaggon receive the ball on the edge of the area before his strike was blocked. The ball then fell to David Cotterill who’s effort struck the crossbar and was cleared by Cameron Keetch. Barry managed an equaliser in the 66th minute as a ball was crossed and dropped kindly for Josh Graham who finished into an empty net.

However, the Barry revival was short lived as just 3 minutes later the Bluebirds were ahead again. Cameron Keetch had the freedom of the Bridge Meadow as he galloped down the left and cross for Kieran Lewis, who was tackled as he was about to pull the trigger, but the ball fell kindly for Ben Fawcett who rounded the keeper and finished. 

Things went from bad to worse for Barry as McDonald saw red for a second yellow as he tripped Ben Fawcett.

The Bluebirds held firm and took all 3 points.
