Haverfordwest County make their way to north Wales for their penultimate away game of 2025 tomorrow, as the Bluebirds take on Flint Town United in our rearranged fixture at the Essity Stadium.
The matchday two encounter was originally due to take place on Saturday 16 August, but was postponed due to a burst water main in Broughton which affected a number of neighbouring communities.
The Blues were last in action a fortnight ago when we defeated Bala Town 2-0 at Maes Tegid on Friday 5 December. Corey Shephard’s goal-of-the-season contender and Ben Ahmun’s penalty were enough to earn County a deserved three points.
The Silkmen have been in action more recently, as they defeated Penybont 4-3 on penalties in the last 16 of the JD Welsh Cup last Saturday. Lee Fowler’s side played against 10 men for the majority of the contest after Chris Venables was shown a straight red card after seven minutes, but the game ended goalless and went to spot-kicks where Flint ultimately triumphed.
The most recent meeting between the sides came at the start of October. On that occasion, the Bluebirds ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Rhys Abbruzzese, Dan Hawkins and Iori Humphreys, with Jake Phillips netting a consolation for the north Walians.
Tony Pennock’s men currently find themselves ninth in the standings, two places and two points above the Silkmen. The Bluebirds would climb a place to eighth with a draw or a win tomorrow, as the end of Phase One draws ever nearer.
