Haverfordwest County
14:30

Haverfordwest County head to Llandudno for a top-flight league fixture for the first time in almost 10 years tomorrow, as the Bluebirds take on Caernarfon Town at the Go Goodwins Stadium.

The Bluebirds were narrowly beaten 3-2 by reigning champions and runaway leaders The New Saints in our most recent league outing at the Ogi Bridge Meadow last Saturday. County found themselves 3-0 behind with Dan Williams opening the scoring and Jordan Williams netting the brace, but Corey Shephard’s well-taken goal and Ben Ahmun’s close-range finish set up a grandstand finish, with the Saints holding on for victory.

The Canaries defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 4-1 at the Go Goodwins Stadium last Saturday. Richard Davies’ side found themselves behind when Corey Hurford opened the scoring for the Reds, but a brace from Sion Bradley along with goals from Adam Davies and Phil Mooney secured a comfortable success for the Cofis.

Both teams tasted defeat in the Nathaniel MG Cup quarter-finaals on Tuesday evening. The Bluebirds lost 2-0 to Barry Town United at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, while Caernarfon were beaten 3-0 by The New Saints at Park Hall.

The most recent meeting between the sides came at the end of August. On that occasion, the spoils were shared after a 1-1 draw at the Ogi Bridge Meadow. Ahmun’s penalty five minutes before half time gave County the lead, but Dominic Smith’s header 16 minutes from time secured a point for the Canaries.

Tony Pennock’s men currently find themselves 11th in the standings. With the bottom six of the JD Cymru Premier still very tightly packed – only seven points separates sixth from 11th – the Bluebirds could climb to as high as ninth with a victory in north Wales tomorrow.
