Nathaniel MG Cup Quarter-Final Tue 4 November Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium
Haverfordwest County
Barry Town United

Haverfordwest County take on Barry Town United in the quarter-finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Tuesday evening.

The Bluebirds were narrowly defeated 3-2 by reigning champions and runaway JD Cymru Premier leaders The New Saints at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Saturday. A brace from Jordan Williams after Dan Williams’ opener gave the Oswestry side a 3-0 lead, but the Town battled back with goals from Corey Shephard and Ben Ahmun setting up a grandstand finish, with the Saints holding on to claim the spoils.

The Linnets claimed a 4-1 victory away at 10-man Colwyn Bay in the live Sgorio game on Saturday evening. Nathan Peate’s close-range finish gave the Seagulls an early lead, but Barry responded with Ieuan Owen’s brace moving them in front before defender Lewis Sirrell was shown a straight red card. Goals from Ollie Hulbert and Robbie Willmott in the second half ensured a comfortable victory for Steve Jenkins’ men.

The most recent meeting between the sides came back in September. On that occasion, the Dragons ran out 3-2 winners. Barry took the lead through Ryan Kavanagh two minutes into the second half, with Rhys Abbruzzese levelling matters on the hour mark. Owen’s goal restored the Linnets’ advantage with 19 minutes remaining, but Corey Shephard pegged the Bluebirds back for a second time. However, with one minute of normal time remaining, Ben Margetson’s header sealed the win for the visitors to leave the Bluebirds dejected.

County last reached the semi-finals of the competition in the 1996-97 season, with Tony Pennock’s men looking to continue their recent run of positive performances ahead of Saturday’s trip to Llandudno to take on Caernarfon Town in the JD Cymru Premier.
