Haverfordwest County kick-start their sixth successive JD Cymru Premier campaign with the visit of Penybont to the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Friday evening.
The Bluebirds began their domestic season with a 5-0 victory over Newport City in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup last Saturday. Ben Fawcett netted a brace, with Ben Ahmun, Dan Hawkins and Corey Shephard also finding the net in a comprehensive win at the Ogi Bridge Meadow.
The Bridgend side progressed into the third round in similar fashion as they ran out 6-1 winners at Trefelin. James Crole netted a hat-trick, with Ash Baker, Noah Daley and Nathan Wood also finding the net at Ynys Park.
Both clubs come into the game on the back of respective European campaigns this summer. County were left to wonder what might have been after going toe-to-toe over two legs with Maltese outfit Floriana, eventually losing 5-3 on aggregate despite threatening at one stage to create more history. Bont, meanwhile, suffered a 4-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Kauno Žalgiris from Lithuania.
Rhys Griffiths’ side have made a host of signings during the summer, with goalkeepers Luke Armstrong and Ayrton Best, defenders Jacob Jones and Ash Baker, midfielders Jac Clay and Alexander Cvetković and forward Noah Daley all arriving at DragonBet Stadium.
