Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to have received confirmation that we have been awarded a FAW National Academi (Girls) Licence for the 2025-26 season.

The restructuring of the FAW’s girls’ football development pathway was announced earlier this year, with the launch of a National Academi (Girls) a product of the new model.

In order to obtain an Academy Licence, clubs must deliver against quality assured criteria across the two key areas of Business and Sporting.

The licence provides clubs with the opportunity to run a Pre-Academi programme for under-8s to under-11s and enter teams at under-14 level and above into local leagues – subject to approval.

Haverfordwest County AFC are one of 11 clubs in Wales to have been awarded a licence for the 2025-26 season, and our girls programme – which has enjoyed a very encouraging first year – can now look forward to another exciting campaign with lots of opportunities for development.

Commenting on the news, Haverfordwest County AFC’s Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football, Mikey Loveridge, said: “As a club, we are incredibly proud to have achieved Academi status for our girls’ programme for the 2025-26 season.

“This recognition is testament to the outstanding work and dedication shown by everyone involved — from our coaching staff to the players and all those working tirelessly behind the scenes.

“Our commitment to delivering the highest standards of training and match experiences has played a crucial role in the development of our female players, and it’s truly rewarding to see their progress.

“We remain fully committed to supporting our female players not only in their footballing journey, but also in their personal growth, as we strive to meet our short, medium, and long-term objectives.

“Following the recent successes of our men’s first team and under-19s, this is a particularly exciting time for the club. We look forward to seeing our women’s and girls’ teams play a pivotal role in driving further success in the years ahead.”
