Haverfordwest County AFC will be looking for a positive finish to a busy couple of weeks when they welcome joint-leaders of the JD Cymru Premier, Cardiff Metropolitan, to LHP Stadium on Friday night.
The Bluebirds were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with 10-man Barry Town United on Tuesday evening. Ollie Hulbert gave the Linnets the lead before defender Josh Yorwerth was shown a straight red card. County striker Ben Ahmun netted his fourth goal of the season on the stroke of half time to draw us level, but despite our relentless pressure in the second half we were unable to find a second goal.
The Archers have made a very strong start to the season and currently sit joint-top of the pile alongside Penybont, having won six, drawn two and lost one of their opening nine encounters. Their most recent outing came on Tuesday night when they edged out basement side Aberystwyth Town 2-1 at Park Avenue, with Adam Roscrow and Joel Edwards on target either side of Devon Torry’s equaliser.
You only have to go back a month for the most recent meeting between the two sides. On that occasion, neither team was able to find the net as the spoils were shared in a goalless draw at Cyncoed Campus.
Tony Pennock’s side currently find themselves fourth in the standings, and we could move up one place to third depending on Bala Town’s result away at Briton Ferry Llansawel.
