Haverfordwest County AFC travel to Bridgend tomorrow evening for a meeting with Penybont in the third round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
The Bluebirds will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Flint Town United in the JD Cymru Premier. County had opportunities to find the net and perhaps return to west Wales with more to show for their efforts, however Ben Hughes’ goal three minutes into the second half proved decisive in a tight affair.
Bont, meanwhile, have made a strong start to the season, and were in action as recently as yesterday as they defeated Connah’s Quay Nomads 1-0 at Essity Stadium thanks to Gabe Kircough’s second-half goal. Rhys Griffiths’ side currently sit top of the JD Cymru Premier, with five wins and two draws from their opening seven matches.
The previous meeting between the sides took place less than a month ago, as we played out a goalless draw at LHP Stadium.
The tie will provide both teams with the opportunity to give much-needed minutes to players who have not featured as regularly so far this season, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake for the victors.
