Haverfordwest County AFC return to action on Friday evening when we welcome Newtown to LHP Stadium in Carmarthen, hoping to maintain our positive start to the 2024-25 JD Cymru Premier season.
The Bluebirds shared the spoils with fellow unbeaten side Cardiff Metropolitan at Cyncoed Campus on Bank Holiday Monday, with the goalless draw adding another point to our tally as we sit fourth in the standings, joint on eight points with Bala Town, the Archers and Penybont above us.
The Robins were also in south Wales in the previous round, as they came from 1-0 down to defeat Barry Town United 2-1 at Jenner Park. Keenan Patten’s goal inside the first minute was cancelled out nine minutes later by Aaron Williams, before the striker headed home from close range four minutes into the second half to seal the victory for the Powys side.
Scott Ruscoe’s side, who currently find themselves fifth, opened their season with a 4-1 win at home to Aberystwyth Town, before a goalless draw away at Penybont was followed by a 4-0 defeat at home to Caernarfon Town.
You have to go back to October 2023 for the most recent meeting between the sides. On that occasion, main marksman Williams’ fourth-minute goal was cancelled out by an own goal from goalkeeper Andy Wycherley.
The fixture will be played in front of the live Sgorio cameras in Carmarthen, with coverage getting under way at 19:40 on S4C Clic, Facebook and YouTube.
