Haverfordwest County welcome Llanelli Town to the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Boxing Day, with the Bluebirds looking to keep touch with the sides above them as the end of Phase One approaches.
County struck twice inside the final six minutes of normal time to salvage a 2-2 draw away at Flint Town United on Saturday. Elliott Reeves’ first-half goal and Josh Jones’ second-half penalty looked to have put the Silkmen on course for victory, but goals from Dan Hawkins and Ben Ahmun within a minute of each other earned the Town a priceless point in north Wales.
The Reds were last in action on December 5, when they suffered a late 2-1 defeat to Cardiff Metropolitan at Cyncoed Campus. Sean Cronin had given Lee John’s side an early lead, but Lifumpa Mwandwe’s goal 10 minutes into the second half was added to by Sam Jones’ effort three minutes from time to claim the spoils for the Archers.
The most recent meeting between the sides came back in October in the second round of the JD Welsh Cup. On that occasion, Llanelli ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Joe Lloyd, Bradley Gibbings and Ethan Cann. The Reds have since exited the competition after a 6-0 defeat at home to Barry Town United in the third round.
Tony Pennock’s men currently find themselves eighth in the standings, four places and 12 points ahead of the Reds. A victory for the Bluebirds could see them move to within four points of the top six places.
