Haverfordwest County will be hoping to finish 2025 on a high when the Bluebirds travel to the capital to take on Cardiff Metropolitan tomorrow in our final game of the year and penultimate outing of Phase One in the JD Cymru Premier.
County defeated Llanelli Town 3-0 at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Boxing Day to sign off from their final home game of the year in style. Owain Jones opened the scoring, with Corey Shephard and subsitute Ben Fawcett – in his final home game before departing for Australia – also finding the net to seal a comfortable victory in front of 991 spectators.
The Archers suffered a 1-0 defeat to in-form Barry Town United on Boxing Day. Ben Margetson’s overhead kick from close range was enough to claim the three points for the Linnets, who leapfrogged the Students into sixth place in the process.
The most recent meeting between the sides came back in August. On that occasion, the spoils were shared after a 2-2 draw at the Ogi Bridge Meadow. Goals from Ben Ahmun and Shephard gave the Town a 2-0 half-time lead, but Jasper Payne and Ryan Reynolds both found the net within three minutes of the restart to draw the Archers level, and that was how it ended.
Tony Pennock’s men currently find themselves eighth in the standings, one place and three points behind the Archers. A win for the Bluebirds would see us move level on points with tomorrow’s opponents, with one game left to play in Phase One.
