Haverfordwest County will be looking to build on Saturday’s win over Flint Town United when we travel to Bridgend to take on Penybont tomorrow evening.
The Bluebirds claimed their first home league win of the season with a 3-1 success over the Silkmen. Rhys Abbruzzese’s free-kick gave us a 1-0 half-time lead, before Dan Hawkins struck five minutes into the second half. Jake Phillips’ goal halved the deficit, but substitute Iori Humphreys headed home from close range in the 89th minute to secure the win.
Bont were held to a goalless draw at Briton Ferry Llansawel on Friday evening. In a game of few chances, the best opportunity fell to Ioan Phillips, but his effort from inside the area cleared the crossbar.
The most recent meeting between the sides came on the opening day of the season. On that occasion, the Bridgend outfit ran out 1-0 winners despite having striker James Crole sent off.
The Bluebirds currently sit 11th in the standings, nine places and 15 points further back from Penybont. A victory could see the Town climb out of the drop zone, as we still hold a game in hand over seven of the teams above us.
