Haverfordwest County head to Flint for their second north Walian trip of the season, as the Bluebirds take on Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Essity Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
County suffered a 3-0 defeat to Llanelli Town in the second round of the JD Welsh Cup last Friday. After three successive positive performances, the Bluebirds were dealt a blow by the Reds, with Tony Pennock’s men keen to bounce back this weekend.
The Nomads were victorious in the JD Welsh Cup last week, running out 3-0 winners over fellow JD Cymru Premier side Bala Town at Maes Tegid. Callum West, Max Woodcock and Harry Franklin were all on the scoresheet as John Disney’s side recorded a comfortable victory in Gwynedd.
The most recent meeting between the sides came on September 20. On that occasion, the Nomads claimed a 3-1 win over the 10-man Bluebirds at the Ogi Bridge Meadow. Ben Ahmun’s penalty had cancelled out West’s opener, but a brace from Rhys Hughes either side of Ahmun being shown a second yellow card meant it was the visitors who took the spoils.
Pennock’s men currently find themselves 11th in the standings, seven places and 10 points further back from Connah’s Quay in fourth. County could climb as high as ninth with victory, as they search for a third successive win at the Essity Stadium.
