Haverfordwest County will be hoping to build on our two recent positive performances when we welcome Bala Town to the Ogi Bridge Meadow tomorrow evening.
The Bluebirds were edged out 2-1 by high-flying Penybont at the DragonBet Stadium on Tuesday evening. We took a deserved early lead through the impressive Ben Fawcett, and on another day could have been three goals to the good at the break were it not for an inspired Luke Armstrong in the home goal, who denied Dan Hawkins and Rhys Abbruzzese. Second-half goals from James Crole and Gabe Kircough turned the game around, with the Blues unfortunate not to leave with something to show for their efforts.
The Lakesiders suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Connah’s Quay Nomads on Tuesday. Goals from Ben Nash and Rhys Hughes saw Bala trail early on, before a Hussein Mehasseb penalty halved the deficit. However, Callum West’s goal inside the final 30 minutes secured the win for John Disney’s side.
The most recent meeting between the sides came back in March. On that occasion, the sides played out a goalless draw at Maes Tegid after the Bluebirds had previously triumphed at Maes Tegid in Phase One and the Ogi Bridge Meadow in Phase Two.
Tony Pennock’s side currently find themselves 11th in the standings, five places and seven points further back from the Lakesiders. A victory could see the Blues climb to 10th in what is our first game of the second half of Phase One in the JD Cymru Premier.
