Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Luc Owen has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old is the latest player to graduate from the academy into the first team, as he follows in the footsteps of the likes of Iori Humphreys, Dan John, Harri John, Alaric Jones, Greg Walters and Ricky Watts, who have all come through the system and gone on to represent the club at the highest level of Welsh football.

Luc has been an important part of our successful Development team in recent seasons, and played a big role in their treble-winning 2024-25 campaign which saw Ceri Phillips’ side claim the FAW National Academi South Development League title, the FAW Youth Cup and the FAW National Academi Development League play-off final trophy, which enables the club to compete in next season’s UEFA Youth League for the very first time.

The midfielder has already had a taste of first team action, having made his debut in the Nathaniel MG Cup at the beginning of the 2023-24 season. Luc has since gone on to feature in last season’s Nathaniel MG Cup, while regularly appearing in matchday squads during Phase Two of the JD Cymru Premier season as the Bluebirds went on to secure a second European qualification in three years, which he can now look forward to being a part of.

Overall, Luc made 34 appearances for the Development team in all competitions last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists from midfield as he helped the side to achieve an unprecedented treble.

Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Luc has had another very good season with the under-19s and has done very well with the first team in training and games when involved.

“He is a versatile midfielder who can score and create. He has been in and around the first team for over two seasons, and his development under the Academy staff is a credit to all of them.

“We all look forward to seeing him continue his development now as a first team player.”

Upon signing his contract, Luc said: “I am delighted to be offered a contract and I’m really greatful to Tony and Waggy for giving me this opportunity.

“It has been a great two seasons in the academy and I thank all the coaches for the support they have given me so far.

“I am looking forward to carrying on my journey with the club.”
