Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Kyle McCarthy has agreed a new one-year contract with the club.
The defender joined the Bluebirds last summer after making over 200 appearances in the JD Cymru Premier for Cardiff Metropolitan, where he developed into one of the most consistent players in the top-flight.
Kyle proved to be a shrewd addition to the squad as he continued to demonstrate that consistency and reliability by playing in all 32 league matches during the 2024-25 campaign, as well as featuring in every cup tie.
The 31-year-old’s experience proved vital in helping what is a young County squad, with his calm nature rubbing off on his teammates and no doubt playing a crucial role in helping us to clinch a second European qualification in the last three years.
A Cymru C international, Kyle has already experienced playing on the European stage when he featured in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds during the 2019-20 season, and he can now look forward to another campaign this summer with the Bluebirds set to discover their UEFA Conference League first qualifying round opponents on Tuesday 17 June.
Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Kyle remaining at our club for another season is fantastic news, as he is vital to everything we do.
“His consistency this year has been incredible. He brings a wealth of experience to our group, and his calmness is obvious for all to see.
“Kyle has an extremely busy few months ahead with his wedding taking place in July, as well as our participation in Europe.
“Having Kyle available for the whole season is the most important fact, and we’re all looking forward to seeing him in a Bluebirds shirt again.”
Upon signing his new contract, Kyle said: “Last season’s success has been a testament to everyone’s contributions and personally, a reason to continue being part of this journey.
“I’m really pleased to extend my stay at the club and continue to play a part in what will hopefully be a successful European and league campaign.”
