Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Greg Walters has agreed a new two-year contract with the club!
The midfielder returned to his hometown club last summer after a spell up the A40 with Carmarthen Town, and it hasn’t taken long for him to settle in and feel right at home with his impressive displays so far in 2024-25.
An integral part of the midfield that has performed so well, Greg has made 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season, contributing goals in the wins over Flint Town United and Briton Ferry Llansawel in Phase One.
Currently in his third spell with the Town, Greg – who is a product of the Academy setup at the Ogi Bridge Meadow – has used his experience to great effect this season, passing on his knowledge to and helping to guide what is a young first team squad.
A hugely popular member of the first team squad and a firm favourite with the Bluebirds supporters, Greg has also helped to support the club off the field with the mental health support organisation that he runs, Get The Boys A Lift, hosting community sessions at their coffee shop in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest, while also providing hot drinks and food for supporters on matchdays at the Ogi Bridge Meadow. Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “We are extremely pleased that Greg has committed himself to the club for a further two seasons.
“He has brought an energy to our midfield that we maybe lacked last season, and he has had an excellent season so far.
“We’re looking forward to Greg continuing his fine form for the rest of the season and into 25/26 and beyond.”
Upon signing his new deal, Greg said: “I’m delighted to have signed for another two years, it’s my hometown club and I love playing my football here.
“We’ve had a decent season so far, the squad is unbelievable on and off the pitch so hopefully we can keep the run of form going for the remainder of the season.
“The club is doing great things off the pitch too, which I’m proud to be a part of.”
Greg is kindly sponsored by Marcus Greenish.
