Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Dylan Rees has agreed a new two-year contract with the club!

The 28-year-old has been with the Bluebirds since joining ahead of the 2021-22 season following a successful spell in the capital with Cardiff Metropolitan, and he has been an integral part of the first team setup ever since.

Dylan was immediately handed the captain’s armband upon his arrival at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, and his leadership qualities have been crucial in guiding what has been a young squad of players for the last three years or so.

In May 2023, he became the first Haverfordwest County AFC captain to lead the club to Europe following our victory over Newtown in the play-off final at Latham Park. Unfortunately, he sustained a serious injury in a pre-season game with Larne in Belfast which would rule him out of the entire 2023-24 season, however he showed real grit and determination to battle back to full fitness and has slotted seamlessly back into the team since making his return

Having played in defence for the majority of his time with the Town, Dylan has fulfilled more of a midfield role this season to great effect, playing in front of a back three which has kept 13 clean sheets in our 24 league matches to date.

Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Having Dylan back fit and available has shown how much he was missed last year.

“Along with a number of our squad, he is able to play in several positions and this is a vital attribute which allows me more freedom to manage our squad.

“His experience and leadership at this level is extremely valuable, and it’s a great sign that he’s committed to the club for another two seasons.”

Upon signing his new contract, Dylan said: “I’m delighted to sign another contract with Haverfordwest County AFC.

“The club have made big strides on and off the pitch since I first arrived.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone at the club, and I feel privileged to be apart of it.”
