Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Dan Hawkins has agreed a new one-year contract with the club!

The forward first joined the Bluebirds in March 2023 having most recently played for Shelbourne in the League of Ireland Premier Division, and opened his account on his debut in the 4-0 victory over Airbus UK Broughton at the Ogi Bridge Meadow.

The 23-year-old was a key part of our European campaign in the summer of 2023, as he played in both legs of our UEFA Conference League first and second qualifying round ties with KF Shkëndija and B36 Tórshavn, with his free-kick against the latter turned home by Ben Fawcett to give the Bluebirds the lead on the night.

Dan’s versatility has been a huge asset to manager Tony Pennock in the last couple of years, allowing him to fill in at wing-back, while also playing in his preferred positions of attacking midfield and across the forward line, where he has contributed nine goals.

He has been in fine form of late, and can lay claim to scoring the first goal for the Town on the new 3G pitch at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, with his header securing a 1-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town in front of 1,486 people on our New Year’s Day homecoming. Dan also netted a brace in the 3-2 win over Bala Town on the opening day of Phase Two, as County started their maiden Championship Conference campaign in style.

As well as his playing commitments, Dan has also taken on additional responsibilites in the last six months, which have seen him come on board as academy technical lead. The role allows him to filter his experiences and ideas into the academy to help prepare the next generation at Haverfordwest County AFC.

Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Dan is another player that myself and Waggy have known for a long time.

“Having worked with him at Swansea City and Hull City, I know Dan’s strengths and how he fits into the way we want the team to play.

“After a spell injured this season, Dan has come back in great condition and we have seen some outstanding performances from him since his return.

“His three goals in the last five games shows he’s in great form, and we look forward to many more for the club.”

Upon signing his new contract, Dan said: “I’m delighted to extend my stay with the club. The squad is in a really good place at the moment, and with the direction and vision of the club it makes the decision for me stay an easy one.”
