Striker Ben Ahmun was pleased with his and the team’s display as Haverfordwest County AFC came from behind to defeat Briton Ferry Llansawel 5-1 at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium in our final home game of Phase One yesterday.
The forward drew County level shortly before half time, with the Town going on to dominate throughout the second half as he found the net for a second time after setting up strike partner Owain Jones.
The summer signing is now up to seven goals in the JD Cymru Premier for the Bluebirds, who travel to Barry Town United next Saturday in our final game of Phase One before we enter the Championship Conference for the very first time.
Here’s what he had to say in full after the game:
On the result
It was good to come from behind as well. We haven’t done that often, if any time this season. It was good to get a couple of goals obviously.
On the performance
Perhaps we weren’t at our best first half, but I still think we had chances. Obviously, their goalkeeper has made a few good saves, the one from the corner from a header I think is an unbelievable save. Obviously it was good getting the equaliser before half time, putting us in a good position going into the second half. Tony’s asked for a big performance second half, and I think we did that.
On the striker’s chipping in
One hundred percent. And it shows the squad too, obviously two different strikers today. Dan [Hawkins] scored on Wednesday and then obviously before that Ben [Fawcett] scored, today Ows scored, I’ve scored, so it just shows when you’ve not scored like we have, how valuable it is I guess.
On the team scoring five
It was great, and obviously to assist a few goals, I feel like I needed it, so it was good to be on track and obviously to end this phase now with the next game against Barry, it’s a good way to push on to the next phase.
On his first start at the Meadow
My first start at the Bridge Meadow, to get two goals and an assist and obviously quite a good performance, a 5-1 win, we’ve got a nice bit of momentum now as well. We’re at the end of Phase One and I guess top six now, we’re looking forward to that. But before that we’ve got Barry, we’ve got to deal with that and hopefully pick up another three points.
