Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to have partnered with Her Game Too Cymru!
Her Game Too is a voluntary campaign run by fans to raise awareness of sexism in sport, and we are thrilled to have created an official link which will help support our efforts to make football more inclusive and welcoming for all.
The partnership comes at a very pertinent time for women’s and girls’ football in Pembrokeshire, with the Girls Development Centre at Haverfordwest County AFC contininuing to go from strength to strength – with this week’s first training session on the new 3G playing surface at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium the latest step forwards.
We are looking forward to welcoming representatives of Her Game Too Cymru to the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium on New Year’s Day, when we officially open our brand new 3G playing surface. Our girls development centre teams will be among the first to play matches on the pitch, before the first team take on Aberystwyth Town in the JD Cymru Premier at 2:30pm.
Commenting on the partnership, Haverfordwest County AFC head of women’s and girls’ football, Mikey Loveridge, said: “Our aim with our Girls Development Centre is to provide a provision for girls in Pembrokeshire that will develop them as footballers and people – and to give girls a pathway to the highest standard of women’s football in Wales.
“We plan to soon establish a Haverfordwest County Women’s team, which will provide an opportunity for our young players in the development centre to progress through the age groups with the goal to represent our women’s team, or to produce players for our Welsh Women’s national team.”
Beccy Nuttall, Haverfordwest County AFC chief operating officer, said: “As a club, we are incredibly excited for this next chapter as we strive to grow our women’s and girls’ provision.
“Mikey is a huge ambassador for girls’ football and, with the backroom staff and coaching team involved in our Girls’ Development Centre, I can see this section of our club going from strength to strength in the coming years.
“Together at Haverfordwest County AFC we are determined to create the best opportunities for male and female footballers, promoting equality within the sport.
“We want to celebrate female players, coaches and supporters, and to work alongside clubs, organisations and governing bodies to foster a supportive environment and positive atmosphere for everyone.
“We as a club cannot wait to see how our female players develop and what’s in store for them in the future.”
Roopa Vyas, Her Game Too chief operating officer and founder of Her Game Too Cymru, added: “This partnership with Haverfordwest County AFC marks an exciting step to collaborate with more Cymru League clubs, further strengthening our partnership through the Football Association of Wales.
“The incredible work being done at the club, particularly by Mikey, in developing their girls’ and women’s set-up sets a fantastic example, and we’re proud to support their efforts in making football more inclusive and welcoming for all.”
