Haverfordwest County AFC take on Llanelli Town AFC in the fourth round of the JD Welsh Cup on Friday evening, in what will be our final home game at LHP Stadium.

The Bluebirds have defeated Trethomas Bluebirds and Ammanford from the JD Cymru South to reach this stage, while the Reds saw off Clwb Cymric and Pill of the South Wales Premier League and Gwent County League Premier Division respectively.

Lee John’s side currently find themselves thrid in the JD Cymru South, behind Pontypridd United and Trethomas Bluebirds. The Reds have won eight, drawn six and lost one of their 15 league games to date, and are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Both sides come into the tie having had an unexpected week off, after Storm Darragh caused the postponement of all domestic matches last weekend. The Bluebirds were due to take on Briton Ferry Llansawel at LHP Stadium, while Llanelli were set to face leaders Trethomas Bluebirds.

You have to go back nearly five years for the most recent meeting betweent the sides. On that occasion, County ran out 1-0 winners at Stebonheath Park thanks to an early goal from Nicky Palmer.

There are a host of familiar faces to the Town amongst the Reds ranks, with Danny Williams, Scott Tancock and Kurtis Rees all currently plying their trade in Carmarthenshire. All three players were part of the Bluebirds squad in our first season back in the top-flight in 2020-21, and played important roles during their time at the Ogi Bridge Meadow.

Last week’s postponed fixture means this cup tie will be our final home game at LHP Stadium before we return to the Ogi Bridge Meadow on New Year’s Day to take on Aberystwyth Town. The game with Briton Ferry Llansawel has been rearranged for Saturday 4 January, with a 2:30pm kick-off time.
