I can’t believe this is my fifth end of year message. The time I have been involved in this wonderful club has flown by.
We can look back on another year of challenges, but also be proud of the continued strides we are making on and off the pitch.
On the pitch it’s been a fantastic year, leaving us on the cusp of a top six spot going in to tomorrow’s game against Aberystwyth Town. The top six has eluded us so far but Tony, Waggy, their off-field team and this group of players have done us extremely proud. Not only having the best defence in the league (and one of the best across Europe’s top leagues), but breaking numerous club records along the way.
Off-field has been really challenging logistically and financially with us not playing games at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium, but Carmarthen Town were excellent hosts and I am grateful to them and all of our fans and Carmarthen Town fans that made the journey to watch us at our temporary home.
The upside, of course, is our wonderful new playing surface and stadium developments that have happened over the last six months. The artificial pitch was something I wanted since I took over, and I felt we could not achieve our on and off-field objectives without it. My huge gratitude goes to Vice Chair, Mared Pemberton, for helping this become a reality with an incredible amount of hard work. I don’t feel that many outside of the club appreciate how hard the rest of the Board work, so a huge thanks to them all for another year and dedication to the cause.
We are already seeing the benefits of the stadium developments with the fantastic development of the girls game and reignition of our community programme. We want this to be a hub for the town of Haverfordwest and the county of Pembrokeshire for years to come. We also have longer term objectives under way to make this one of the best facilities in Welsh football.
We still have a long way to go, but I couldn’t ask for a better group of people around me, all sharing the same vision for the club. I want to thank everybody inside the club, volunteers, all sponsors and partners, and anybody affiliated with the club for another year of fantastic support, and I wish you all the best for 2025.
