Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to once again be supporting Prostate United this year, as club staff, volunteers, supporters and the wider community get together to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK throughout the month of October.
Founded in 2018 by Stephen Gilpin and Ross Burbeary, two physios from Rotherham United, Prostate United was inspired by Stephen’s grandad, and it now brings together football club staff, fans and media across the month of October raising funds to save men’s lives.
Since forming Prostate United, over 60 clubs and 1,500 staff and fans have walked, run or cycled every day in the month raising over £500,000.
Football clubs from Argyle to Accrington, Coventry to Carlisle across the football pyramid have come together as one team to support the drive to stop men dying from prostate cancer — saving lives with their club.
Since taking part in the challenge for the first time in 2022, we have raised over £3,000 and covered more than 2,000 kilometres as a club. This time around, we initially aim to cover a combined distance of 5,374 kilometres, which is the total distance from the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium to Haverford in Pennsylvania. We encourage all of our supporters to become familiar with the link between Haverfordwest and Haverford, as we hope to strengthen our relationship with the township in the near future.

Haverfordwest County AFC will be holding daily walks Monday – Friday between 7am-8/8:30am, starting and ending at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium (SA61 2EX). Please feel free to attend each morning and after completing a quick sign-up form, you will be all set to complete your activities with the group.
You do not need to join these morning activities to participate in the challenge. On weekends and/or in your own time, you are able to complete exercise which will be recorded through the Strava group, and linked to our Prostate United donation page. 100% of the money raised will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK!
Following the walks and runs, refreshments will be provided in the clubhouse at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium. These will be free of charge, however any donations will be kindly appreciated.
We hope to see as many people as possible join our group, and we look forward to collectively achieving our target to raise as much money as possible for a fantastic charity.
Stephen Gilpin and Ross Burbeary, the co-founders of Prostate United, said: “We really want to showcase that Prostate United is a family and network of people coming together to achieve a common goal, to raise as much money for Prostate Cancer UK to help save lives. You can achieve more than you think, and you can achieve more as a group. The support shown by clubs from across the UK has been amazing, see you in October!”
