Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Greg Walters, who joins the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The 29-year-old returns for a third spell with the Bluebirds having spent the last six seasons with Carmarthen Town, where he was the most recent captain of the Old Gold in the JD Cymru South.

Having come through the Academy setup at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, Greg broke into the first team in the 2014-15 season, spending two years with the Town before linking up with Aberystwyth Town in the summer of 2016. The midfielder spent a few months with the Seasiders before returning to Pembrokeshire in October.

Greg was with County for another two seasons after this, with his move to Carmarthen coming in the summer of 2018. His time at Richmond Park saw him gain plenty of top-flight experience, as he began to transition into more of a leadership role in the last few campaigns.

Greg is well-known throughout the county not only for his footballing exploits, but also for his work with the not-for-profit organisation, Get The Boys A Lift, which provides the people of west Wales with a free, award-winning mental health service funded by coffee, clothing and community. Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Greg is a player I’ve liked for some time. As a former Bluebird he returns to the club for his third spell.

“He has lots of experience, which is something our younger players need on the pitch to assist their development.

“Greg will be a great addition to our options in midfield and is eager to play in the Cymru Premier again.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to Carmarthen Town over the last few months for their cooperation with us speaking to and signing Greg.”

Speaking upon his return to the club, Greg said: “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to return to my hometown club. Hopefully I can help the team achieve success this season.

“The club has great ambition, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the boys and being a part of it.”
