Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to announce Corey Shephard has agreed a new two-year contract with the club.

The midfielder returned for a third spell with the Bluebirds in January, and has now secured his future with the club for the next couple of seasons.

Since first joining the club for the 2020-21 campaign Corey has made 66 appearances for the Town, and has gone on to become a firm fan favourite with the Haverfordwest County faithful, with his performances and engagement with the crowd making him a popular member of the club.

Bluebirds supporters don’t need to be reminded of Corey’s stand out moment in a County shirt to date, when his penalty in the 2022-23 European play-off final win at Newtown ended our 19-year wait to return to continental stage, as we triumphed on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

This welcome news means the number of players committed for next season now stands at 18, as we continue working to build a competitive squad for the 2024-25 campaign.

Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Sheps returning to us last season showed how important he is to our squad. He adds strength to our midfield which allows others to be more attacking. He has a great range of passing, which on the Meadow is needed.

“His experience is vital to the younger players at our club, and we all look forward to his contribution next season.”

Upon signing his new deal, Corey said: “I’m delighted to be staying with the club for the next two seasons. Although this season didn’t quite end in the way we would have hoped, we have a great group of lads and coaching staff who will be working hard to continue improving next season, and I’m excited to be part of this journey. Sheps.”
