Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to announce that Lee Jenkins has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.
The defender linked up with the Bluebirds in the summer of 2022, and has gone on to be an integral part of the team over the course of the last two years, having clocked up over 5,000 minutes from his 76 appearances in all competitions to date.
His performances this season saw him earn a call-up to the Cymru C squad for the game with England C in Llanelli last month, where he played the full 90 minutes and helped the side to keep a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory at Stebonheath Park.
Lee’s stand-out moment in a Bluebirds shirt to date undoubtedly came at Cardiff City Stadium in July of last summer, when he scored in the 89th minute to level our UEFA Europa Conference League First Qualifying Round tie with KF Shkëndija on aggregate before the Town triumphed on penalties, on the greatest night in our history.
The 22-year-old’s reliability and robust nature has been demonstrated by the fact he has played the entirety of our 31 games in the JD Cymru Premier this term to date, with his presence at the heart of the defence playing a big role in the campaign as we gear up for the final game of the regular season at Penybont.
‘Jenks’ has found the net three times in the league this season, as he netted away at The New Saints in September before scoring in our two most recent games, contributing the equaliser in the 2-1 win over Barry Town United before netting the second goal in the 3-1 victory against Colwyn Bay last weekend.
A firm favourite amongst the Bluebirds faithful, we’re thrilled to have Lee staying with us at the Ogi Bridge Meadow for another season, and look forward to more memorable moments in the blue of Haverfordwest County.
Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Jenks has shown over the last two years what a consistent player he has been for us.
“He is without doubt one of the best centre halves in our division, and his recent performance for Cymru C cemented that.
“Lee’s commitment to the club for another season shows the ambition we as a football club have, and we look forward to seeing his continued development as a Haverfordwest County defender.”
