Next Wednesday (April 24) promises to be a fantastic occasion at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, as a Haverfordwest County Legends side comes together to take on Valero!

The game, which will raise funds for Valero’s charity of the year, ASD Help, who offer support, advice & activities for autistic & neurodiverse individuals or those with learning disabilities, will see a host of iconic former Bluebirds players pull on the shirt to take on employees of the local refinery – many of whom play in the Pembrokeshire Football League.

Valero have been a loyal supporter of the club for a number of years, with their logo proudly displayed on the front of all academy team shirts – as well as various locations around the Ogi Bridge Meadow – and the game will provide an excellent opportunity to thank them for their ongoing support.

Pre-game entertainment will be provided via an under-8s mini festival featuring teams from Haverfordwest County Academy, Rising Stars Football Coaching, Milford United and Hundleton, with the players then forming a guard of honour as the two teams enter the field.

Chairman Rob Edwards will be in the dugout for the first time as he takes the role of assistant manager to former County boss Wayne Jones, and he had this to say:

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of this amazing evening as Wayne Jones’ assistant manager. I ‘adopted’ Wolvesey when I took over the club and had an excellent working relationship with him, as he set the building blocks in place to where we are now, so I am delighted to be in the dugout with him; and to spend the evening with these Haverfordwest legends will be very memorable for me, and hopefully all those involved or attending the evening.

“Valero have been vital sponsors for the club over the years, so it will be great to have them on the Meadow, and hopefully people will come in their numbers to be part of a fantastic evening and raise lots of money for charity.

“One place I always said to managers I would never go is the changing room or the dugout, but this will be the exception!”

Adding to this, club Hall of Famer Wayne Jones said: “It’s a privilege to be asked to be part of the legends team. The club is very close to my heart having spent so many years there as a player and manager.

“The players selected are a mixture of the UEFA 2004 qualifiers squad and the one that secured two promotions to the Cymru Premier.

“It’s great to welcome Valero and past players for ‘one last dance’ on the wonderful Meadow pitch, and I look forward to catching up with good friends and enjoying the occasion!”

The full composition of the Legends squad will be revealed in the coming days, with long-term fans of the Town sure to be excited at the prospect of seeing their heros take to the Meadow for one more game.

Tickets are priced at just £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with under-16s free – and we look forward to seeing plenty of you with us next Wednesday to enjoy what promises to be a great night of football as we raise vital funds for a fantastic cause.
