Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that Rio Dyer has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The 20-year-old forward linked up with the Bluebirds in the summer, having most recently played for Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Rio made his debut for the club in the first leg of our UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying round tie with KF Shkëndija back in July, as he made a 12-minute cameo off the bench at the Toše Proeski Arena.

Having missed most of the early-season action through injury, the former Wales age grade attacker opened his account for the Bluebirds in the 5-0 victory over Colwyn Bay at the Ogi Bridge Meadow in November.

A popular member of the squad, Rio has been a valuable addition to the club since joining us, and has featured 20 times in all competitions so far this season.

His well-taken goal away at Caernarfon Town in December was another high point of his time with us to date, as he helped us to record an impressive 1-0 victory at The Oval.

Rio’s direct style of play has been a welcome variation to our forward options, and we look forward to having him fit and firing for what promises to be an unmissable conclusion to the JD Cymru Premier season, starting with Friday night’s game against Penybont at the Ogi Bridge Meadow (Kick-off: 19:45).

Upon signing his new contract, Rio said: “I’m really happy to be staying with the club for another season.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Penns and I get on great with the lads. I’m looking forward to what should be an exciting end to the season now.”

Commenting on the news, manager Tony Pennock said: “Rio had a difficult start to the season with injuries, but he’s got stronger the more time he’s trained and played.

“His performances have been consistent and, having known him for so long, I know how talented he is.

“He is another very young player in our squad who is versatile, and we all look forward to watching him develop.”
