Haverfordwest County will be looking to bounce back from last week’s 1-0 defeat to Penybont when we host Aberystwyth Town in the fourth and final West Coast Derby of the season at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Friday evening.
The Bluebirds came out on the wrong side of the scoreline in front of a 698-strong crowd in Pembrokeshire last Friday, which was by some distance the highest attendance of the round in the JD Cymru Premier, and one of the highest of the season so far.
The Seasiders were due to face Pontypridd United at the USW Sport Park last Saturday, however the game was postponed with the Black and Greens failing to fulfil their medical requirement of the game. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw at home to Barry Town United on March 2, with defender Ben Woolam’s opener cancelled out by a Keenan Patten penalty.
The previous meeting between the sides came back on February 2, with Aber claiming a 1-0 victory thanks to Iwan Lewis’ goal five minutes before the break.
Tony Pennock’s side currently find themselves seventh in the standings, and top of the Playoff Conference with five games remaining in what was been an intriguing and unpredictable top-flight season so far. A victory would maintain our hold on top spot, while a draw or a defeat would open the door to Penybont to move up a place.
