Haverfordwest County AFC can confirm that James Devonald will be leaving his role as first team goalkeeper coach and academy head of goalkeeping with immediate effect to purse a career opportunity elsewhere.
A popular member of the club, James joined in 2018 and has been a key part of the coaching setup in that time, with his spell at the Ogi Bridge Meadow taking in our promotion from the JD Cymru South in 2020 all the way to our first-ever victory in Europe in the summer.
During his time with the first team, he was worked with a variety of goalkeepers – most recently Zac Jones and Ifan Knott – helping to improve their all-round abilities to be able to compete at JD Cymru Premier level. He has also been involved with the Welsh Schools setup in recent years.
In addition, he has put in a significant amount of time with the academy, where he has passed on his knowledge to the goalkeepers of the future – who we will hope to see featuring in the first team in years to come.
As well as this, he has been an important part of our community projects, being involved in school visits and hosting our Fit and Fed sessions during school holidays.
We would like to thank James for all of his hard work and dedication throughout his time with the club, and we wish him well for the future.
