After back-to-back home matches in the past week, Haverfordwest County are back on their travels tomorrow when we make the journey north to take on Bala Town at Maes Tegid.

Those past two games both ended in success for the Bluebirds, with the penalty shoot-out win over Baglan Dragons in the second round of the JD Welsh Cup last Saturday followed up by Tuesday night’s morale-boosting victory over Penybont in the JD Cymru Premier.

Following a run of four consecutive losses in all competitions in September, the Lakesiders have recovered their form somewhat in recent weeks with wins over Colwyn Bay and Llandudno in the league and the cup respectively, before they drew 1-1 with Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Essity Stadium on Wednesday night.

It will be almost a year to the day that the two teams last did battle. On that occasion, Colin Caton’s side ran out 4-1 winners at the Ogi Bridge Meadow. The Town took an early lead through Elliot Scotcher, but Jack Wilson was shown a red card – which would later be rescinded – shortly after, and it proved to be a long afternoon for Haverfordwest County.

Tony Pennock’s side currently find themselves them eighth in the standings, with Bala four points and two places higher in sixth. While it is not possible for the Bluebirds to climb the table this weekend, they could close the gap to sixth place to just one point with victory in the foothills of Snowdonia.

Bluebirds midfielder Tyrese Owen will return to the fold after serving a one-game suspension following his sending off at Pontypridd United a fortnight ago. Meanwhile, the hosts will be without Joe Malkin for tomorrow’s game after the forward was shown a second yellow card following the conclusion of Wednesday’s draw with the Nomads.
