Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm that captain Dylan Rees has agreed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The defender, who is celebrating his 27th birthday today, has been with the Bluebirds since the start of the 2021-22 season, and has gone on to make over 60 appearances in all competitions, leading from the front as first team captain throughout this time.
His current deal was set to take him through to the end of this season, however this news means he can look forward to another campaign with the Town.
A product of the Cardiff City academy setup, Rees linked up with County following a successful few years in the Welsh capital with Cardiff Metropolitan, where he most notably scored a penalty in the Archers’ European tie with Progrès Niederkorn.
Rees, who is currently in the rehabilitation phase following the ACL injury he unfortunately sustained in our pre-season fixture against Larne in Northern Ireland in the summer, has been a major part of the team in the last two seasons, with his positional versatility and leadership skills proving to be a real asset to the club.
His best moment in a Bluebirds shirt undoubtedly came in the JD Cymru Premier European play-off final victory over Newtown back in May, when he was able to lift the trophy and celebrate a season of hard work which culminated in leading his team to a first continental qualification since 2004.
Everyone at the club continues to wish Dylan well with his ongoing rehabilitation, and we look forward to seeing him back out on the pitch in the blue of Haverfordwest County when the time comes.
