Haverfordwest County AFC are pleased to announce the signing of defender Aidan MacNamara on a deal until the end of the season, subject to Football Association of Wales clearance.
The 19-year-old, who can play across the defence and also in a midfield role, is a product of the Cardiff City academy system.
An athletic defender, who is comfortable on the ball, the youngster had been with the capital Bluebirds from the age of seven, progressing through the academy ranks. He has also represented Wales at age grade level, and is a former teammate of Charlie Savage, the son of former Wales midfielder Robbie.
With captain Dylan Rees, Kyle Patten and Elliot Scotcher currently sidelined, County have moved to strengthen our defensive options, with MacNamara linking up with the Pembrokeshire Bluebirds for his first taste of senior football.
Commenting on the signing, manager Tony Pennock said: “I saw Aidan player a number of times last season for Cardiff, he can play in a number of positions.
“With the number of defenders and utility players we’ve got out injured at the moment, I think it was a position we needed to fill.
“Aidan has been training with us for a couple of weeks, and I’ve spoken to a number of people about him and they’ve all given good reports, so we look forward to getting his clearance through as quick as possible and getting him in the squad.”
We are delighted to welcome Aidan on board, and look forward to having him with us for the remainder of the campaign!
