Haverfordwest County get their 2023-24 JD Cymru Premier season under way against Pontypridd United at the Ogi Bridge Meadow this evening.
Fresh from their European exploits, which captured the imagination of the Welsh footballing public, the Bluebirds will be hoping to continue that momentum into what promises to be one of the most competitive top-flight seasons in recent times.
Aiming to improve on their seventh place finish in 2022-23, the Town squad shows seven new faces from last term, with Kai Whitmore, Tyrese Owen, Martell Taylor-Crossdale, Ifan Knott, Rio Dyer and Kayden Williams-Lowe and Luke Tabone all recruited over the summer.
The Dragons have a number of former County players on their books, with Kieran Lewis, Danny Williams and Kurtis Rees joining Corey Shephard, whose penalty in last season’s European play-off final booked the Bluebirds’ continental ticket.
In the four meetings between the teams last season, the Dragons came out on top twice, with the Bluebirds winning the final encounter to go with a goalless draw earlier in the campaign.
