Ahead of our UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie with B36 Tórshavn, we spoke with the popular online sports betting tipster, Andy Robson, who sponsors the Faroese outfit!
The two sides will meet for the first time on Thursday, as the Bluebirds travel to the Faroese capital for the game at the Gundadalur Stadium (19:00 BST), before hosting the return leg at the Cardiff City Stadium next Thursday, August 3 (19:45 BST).
Scotsman Andy has built up a strong following on social media in recent years, and is now seen by many as the go-to man for betting tips.
His association with B36 has also helped to raise the club’s online reputation, with his large army of followers adopting them as their second club.
With our first leg meeting now just a day away, we spoke with the man himself to find out his story!
What led to you creating AndyRobsonTips?
“I created this account in 2015 because I had found success with my personal bets, and my friends encouraged me to share my betting tips publicly.
“I take pride in sharing the research behind each bet, allowing followers to understand the reasoning behind my predictions. People respect and trust me for it and my following has steadily grown over the eight years.
“Over the years, I have built a team that centers around providing the best quality betting tips and tools, while maintaining a light-hearted, fun, and responsible approach.”
What was the reasoning behind getting involved with BS6 Tórshavn?
“Well, what better example of being light-hearted and fun than sponsoring a Faroese Premier League club?!
“It’s an unusual choice, but I’ve always had an affinity for the Faroe Islands. One of my earliest Scotland memories was watching Scotland draw 2-2 away to them in 2002.
“Then, during quieter summers when no major tournaments are being played, the Faroese league has always caught my interest in betting.
“An added bonus is the opportunity for the club to participate in European football at a lower rate compared to sponsoring other clubs at that level.
“My community loves it. They’ve taken a real interest in B36, and the club itself appreciates the support and love from the UK.”
How did the first qualifying round tie with Paide Linnameeskond go?
“We were the better team in the first leg but couldn’t find a breakthrough. The opposition, Paide, were limited to just one shot on target. Unfortunately, good chances from [Eli] Nielsen and [Sonni] Nattestad didn’t get converted, leaving us to travel to Estonia with a 0-0 scoreline.
“The second leg was a bit more open, with two huge chances in the opening 10 minutes, but we failed to convert them. The game finished 0-0 in 90 minutes. However, in extra-time, Nielsen and [Michał] Przyblski scored within five minutes, putting us 2-0 up. After that, we simply had to see out the game, which we did successfully, securing our place in the next round.”
Who are the danger men that we should be keeping a close eye on?
“There are two players, Andrass Johansen and Hannes Agnarsson, who are both homegrown talents from B36, having been brought up through the academy and now representing the national team.
“Both were called up for the EURO 2024 qualifiers versus Czech Republic and Albania.
“It’s worth noting that Hannes’ father also played for B36, while Johansen is the son of Kári, B36’s kit man.”
Do you know much about Haverfordwest County?
“I haven’t seen much of Haverfordwest, aside from the shootout last week, but I was cheering them on.
“I believe they’ll prove to be a tough team, however, the same can be said for B36.
“I can see B36 taking the lead into the second leg, as we’ll have home advantage and it helps we are in the middle of our domestic season.”
