Haverfordwest County AFC can confirm that Ioan Evans will be leaving the club this summer, after rejecting a new contract offer.

The 21-year-old joined the Bluebirds last summer on a one-year deal, having played for Cefn Druids in the JD Cymru Premier in 2021-22.

Formerly of the academy setups at Newport County and Swansea City, the youngster has played much of his football at wing-back, but featured predominantly in midfield for County in the 2022-23 season.

After making his competitive debut in the 4-2 win over Barry Town United in the Nathaniel MG Cup in August, he would go on to play a further 20 times in all competitions.

In total, Evans scored three goals, including a late free-kick against Pontypridd United on New Year’s Eve and the winner in the 1-0 away victory over Aberystwyth Town back in March.

Evans, who has also represented Pontardawe Town, played a total of 65 minutes across the two recent European play-off matches with Cardiff Metropolitan and Newtown, as the Bluebirds ended their 19-year wait for continental qualification.

As he departs, we would like to thank Ioan for his service this season, and wish him well for whatever the future holds.
