Haverfordwest County AFC can confirm that Ryan George and Ivan Watkins have been released by the club.

George has agreed to leave by mutual consent, while Watkins had reached the end of his contract.

Full-back George linked up with Haverfordwest County in last year’s January window, initially on a deal until the end of the 2021-22 season, before signing a one-year extension at the end of the campaign.

The Newport County academy product featured 13 times in the JD Cymru Premier last term, as the Bluebirds secured survival with an impressive turnaround in Phase Two.

Formerly of Walton Casuals and Redditch, the attack-minded defender made 18 appearances in the league this season, as well as playing twice in the Nathaniel MG Cup and once in the JD Welsh Cup.

However, an agreement has now been reached to allow the 21-year-old to seek more regular game time elsewhere.

Forward Watkins was offered a contract after a successful trial period with the club last summer, which saw him play a regular part in the team’s pre-season matches.

Watkins made a total of five appearances in the JD Cymru Premier, with his debut coming away at Caernarfon Town in September.

The 21-year-old, who has previously played for Middlebury College in Vermont and FK Dukla Prague in the Czech Republic, would go on to make cameo appearances against Flint Town United (twice), Cardiff Metropolitan and Connah’s Quay Nomads.

He also played for the club’s development team when required, scoring three goals in three appearances in the Cymru Premier Development League South.

We would like to thank Ryan and Ivan for their contributions, both on and off the field, during their time with the football club, and wish them well with whatever comes next in their footballing journeys.
