Haverfordwest County AFC are thrilled to confirm that Corey Shephard has become the latest player to sign a new contract with the club.

The deal, which runs for a year, comes as great news to everyone at the club, as we continue to work hard behind the scenes in preparation for next season.

The midfielder, who hails from Church Village, is a product of the Newport County academy, and also represented Ton Pentre in the early stages of his career.

Shephard, 24, first arrived at the Ogi Bridge Meadow in the summer of 2020, joining from JD Cymru South outfit Cambrian and Clydach Vale, and went on to have an impressive campaign as the Bluebirds secured a ninth-placed finish in our first season back in the JD Cymru Premier.

He began the 2021-22 campaign with County, before departing to join Merthyr Town in September due to work commitments. However, he returned to the Bluebirds in January, and immediately added an extra dimension to the midfield as we finished the campaign in strong fashion to comfortably avoid the bottom two.

Shephard’s highlights during his time in the blue of Haverfordwest County include the memorable long-range strike against Newtown at Latham Park in the 2020-21 campaign, as well as scoring the opening goal in the famous 2-1 win over The New Saints in March 2021.

In addition, he also pulled off one of the assists of the season in the 6-1 win over Cefn Druids in March, as his deft flick played Danny Williams in to round off the scoring.

In total, Shephard made 14 appearances for County across Phase One and Two in 2021-22, while also appearing in the JD Welsh Cup and Nathaniel MG Cup.
