Haverfordwest County AFC can confirm that Alaric Jones will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
The defender was offered a new deal by the club, on improved terms, but has made the decision to depart and head for pastures new as we prepare for our third consecutive season in the JD Cymru Premier.
Jones is a product of the academy setup at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, and became the youngest player to sign a first team contract when he put pen to paper at the age of 16 years and three months in August 2017.
The 21-year-old departed to link up with Carmarthen Town in the summer of 2019, and spent a season at Richmond Park with the Old Gold before returning west a year later upon the Bluebirds’ promotion to Wales’ top-flight league.
Jones, who captained the under-16s side to victory in the national final in 2017, and has also been a member of the Welsh Schools setup, has been a regular part of the team in the last two seasons, featuring 51 times in all competitions.
He found the net on one occasion in the 2021-22 campaign, with his powerful effort from close range giving the team hope late on in the away game against Cardiff Metropolitan at Cyncoed Campus – which we went on to lose 3-2.
We would like to place on record our thanks to Alaric during his two spells with the club, and we wish him well with whatever comes next in his footballing journey.
